Minor and Trace Element sol'n for Marine and Brackish systems housing primary producers or utilizing algal filtration methods. Provides critical minor and trace elements (specifically, those not considered by researchers to be phytotoxic and which exhibit a nutrient-type depth profile in open oceanic waters) in NSW ratios, required by photoautotrophs (including zooxanthellae) for: photosynthesis, N2 assimilation and NO3 reduction, cell division, CO2 fixation, P acquisition, DNA transcription, and production of pigments, enzymes, and vitamins. Provides I, Mo, Ni, Zn, Mn, Cu, Se, V, Fe, Co.  If desired, then Isol8 MT can be diluted into a larger volume of purified water and dosed through an automated approach. Be sure to use clean mixing and storage vessels, protect the solution from direct illumination, and do not permit the diluted solution to become contaminated with foreign material.

In recirculating marine ecosystems which are being operated without routine ICP analysis as a means of maintaining the values of ions critical to photosynthesis, then application of Isol8 MT as directed below may be relied upon as a means of ensuring that ions critical to photosynthesis and associated biochemical reactions are continuing to enter the system on a daily basis.

In systems utilizing ICP analysis, Isol8 MT can be used as a temporary solution to providing the referenced critical ions during periods when the MDS has run out and a new one has not yet been placed into the dosing regimen.  Dose as shown below.

The recommended rates of application are as follows:

  • ≥75% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and incorporates some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 12.5 gallons daily.
  • ≥75% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and does not incorporate some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 25 gallons daily.
  • ~50 - 75% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and incorporates some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 25 gallons daily.
  • ~50 - 75% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and does not incorporate some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 37.5 gallons daily.
  • ~25 - 50% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and incorporates some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 37.5 gallons daily.
  • ~25 - 50% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and does not incorporate some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 50 gallons daily.
  • ≤25% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and incorporates some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 50 gallons daily.
  • ≤25% surface area colonized by zooxanthellate invertebrates and does not incorporate some form of algal-based nutrient reduction: 1 drop per 62.5 gallons daily.

Note: these values are given in drops, and one mL is approximately equivalent to 20 drops when dispensed from our 30- and 60-mL dropper caps (24 drops per mL in our US-made pipettes).  Even in a densely-stocked 250 gallon reef system with algal filtration, a single 30-mL bottle of Isol8 MT will last 30 days.

  • Purchase of this item requires that purchaser agree to Terms and Conditions, and to Return and Refund Policy. This step is completed at checkout.
  • In an effort to reduce waste, droppers and pipettes are available for separate purchase. For 30- and 60-mL bottles, bulb-style dropper caps with child-resistant features are available; these droppers dispense ~20 drops per mL. The alternative option is a US-made bulb pipette with 1.5 mL total capacity, ~24 drops per mL. All of these options are available for purchase on the main shop page. Note that the cost of the 30- and 60-mL bottles has been decreased due to exclusion of the droppers, and that the caps and droppers are priced in accordance with our landed costs. Droppers and pipettes can be re-used for the same formulation as long as they are maintained free from contamination. Cleaning droppers and pipettes is a simple process which consists of rinsing with running water to remove reside, rinsing with purified water to ensure cleanliness, and then storage either in the solution or in a location in which the item can be labeled for purpose and maintained free of contaminants. Using this approach, droppers and caps may remain viable for several years.
